How We De-Risk New Product Ideas in 14 Days

Most teams are not blocked by effort. They are blocked by uncertainty.

At CMMR we run a 14-day de-risk sprint before major product investments. The goal is simple: convert assumptions into evidence quickly.

Day 1-3: Map the Risk

We identify the top unknowns across:

  • user demand
  • technical feasibility
  • operational cost
  • adoption friction

If a risk cannot break the business, it is not top priority.

Day 4-9: Build the Thinnest Useful Prototype

We do not build a full product. We build just enough to answer high-risk questions:

  • interactive click path for core workflow
  • narrow backend spike for critical integration
  • instrumentation plan for early usage data

Day 10-14: Validate and Decide

We test with real users, collect behavior signal, and produce a go-forward decision memo:

  • proceed and scope phase one
  • pivot the concept
  • stop and protect runway

This sprint model has repeatedly saved teams months of low-confidence implementation.
